LCBH Honors PBN as Volunteer of the 2013

Jill Brady, PBN's project manager of tenant advocacy, accepted the Lawyers' Commitee for Better Housing's award for volunteer of 2013. PBN's work on tenant issues is due to LCBH's persistence in trying various projects with PBN until it developed the right one--one where PBN attorneys are on call each week to assist with pre-litigation issues and emergency motions.

The first agency with whom we worked also graced PBN with its first volunteerism award -- the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago. PBN remains grateful to CRFC for getting us off the ground.

LAF Chicago recognizes 5 PBN volunteer attorneys as 2017 Volunteers of the Year. Julie Renehan & Maciej Sokolowski awarded for the Divorce Litigation project. Ryan McCready recogized for Order of Protection Litigation. Cheryl Lipton & Ruth Masters highlighted for for the Voucher Preservation Project.

CDEL Honors PBN with their Distinguished Service Award
February 16, 2016
The Center for Disability and Elder Law honored us with their Distinguished Service Award at their Winter Awards Benefit. CDEL stated, "No single group provides more volutneer hours to CDEL than PBN." The award was accepted by two of our clinic managers, Karen Boyd and Libby Wood.

LAF Names Sheila Pont Volunteer of the Year

LAF Honors Pierangela Murphy

The Legal Assistance Foundation honored Pierangela Murphy for her U Visa work to assist crime victims. Ms. Murphy, formerly a corporate lawyer, has volunteered for this program since 2012 and is known to be passionate about the work and her clients.

Oak Park Temple Honors PBN Volunteers
February 23, 2014
Eight PBN attorneys were recognized with the Rabbi Leonard Mervis Award for Social Justice by the Oak Park Temple. PBN was especially honored because these attorneys were nominated by Mara Block, an attorney at Legal Assistance Foundation. Congratulaions to Tali Albukerk, Felice Bernstein, Anne Galkin, Cheryl Lipton, Ruth Masters, Sheila Pont, Dina Ross, and Howard Wax for their well deserved honor.

PBN's First Award Goes to Mary Eileen Gaudette

On our third anniversary, we honored Mary Eileen Gaudette with The Hummingbird Award. Ms. Gaudette is a founding member of PBN and best exemplifies the volunteer for which we stand -- she volunteers when she can and changes projects as needed for her work and family obligations. Congratulations!

PBN Honored as Volunteer of the Month by CARPLS

CARPLS honored us in January 2013, naming us "Volunteer of the Month," for our work at it's consumer debt collection help desk. Our volunteers report that this desk is rewarding as it helps many people help themselves. Kudos to CARPLS for taking the time to modify its program to include PBN volunteers.

CLAIM Honors Stojanka Zjalic
March 11, 2013
Stojanka Zjalic has managed PBN's jail clinic since its inception with a lot of time and creativity. This did not go unnoticed by Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers, who awarded Ms. Zjalic for her volunteerism.
Of note, Ms. Zjalic is licensed in Bosnia-Hercegovina. As an unlicensed attorney, she found a way to contribute her skills to the community.
